Browse the Jungle RoomEvery plant ships bareroot and wrapped in moss. Here is exactly what to do when it lands on your doorstep.
Unbox gently. Don't panic if a leaf or two dropped during transit — that's normal. The plant is tougher than it looks.
Remove the moss wrap from the roots. Give the roots a gentle rinse if needed. Check for firmness — healthy roots feel solid, not mushy.
Use a well-draining aroid mix. Plant at the same depth it was growing. Don't pack the soil tight.
Place in bright indirect light. Water lightly. Give it 1-2 weeks to adjust. Plants need time to settle.
Plants go through shipping stress. Here is how to read what you are seeing.
Gently press soil back in place. Let it stabilize for a week first.
Place in bright indirect light and give it a few days. It will perk back up on its own.
A leaf or two may yellow from shipping stress. Remove the leaf and monitor. New growth is what matters.
Try moving it closer to a window. Most aroids need 6+ hours of bright indirect light daily.
Check your watering. Let soil dry out between waterings and make sure your pot drains.
